Worship Assistance

Many hands and hearts are needed to keep the worship services at St. Paul running smoothly.  If you are interested in assisting in any of the listed capacities, please contact the St. Paul Church Office.  Opportunities to assist in the regular worship at St. Paul include:

Acolytes and Crucifers

You can serve as a crucifer (cross carriers) and/or an acolyte (candle lighters) during Sunday morning and Holiday services. Acolytes and Crucifers are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) services on a rotating basis.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild members assist with the preparation of the Elements for Holy Communion and also take care of the altar and pulpit paraments.

Cantors

Cantors are vocal soloists who lead the congregation in responsive singing during the Church service.  Contact Marillyn Freeman or Eric Ihde.

Communion Assistants

Communion Assistants help with the distribution of Bread and Wine during Communion services and are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) services on a rotating basis.

Greeters

Greeters greet members and guests at several locations in the Church building as people gather for worship. A hearty smile and a friendly handshake are the only requirements necessary to serve as a greeter. Greeters are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) services on a rotating basis.

Lectors

Lectors read the Epistle lessons during worship services and are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) services on a rotating basis.

Nursery

Nursery assistants supervise small children for approximately one hour in the church nursery during church services. Nursery assistants are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) services on a rotating basis.

Recording Services

Those who volunteer in Recording Services use both video and audio devices to record the early service. Tapes are distributed to shut-ins and other persons who are not able to attend services in the Church building.

Ushers and Usher Shadows

Ushers and Usher Shadows greet members and guests as they enter for services, distribute bulletins, assist with the gathering of the Offering, and do a quick clean-up of the pews after services.  Ushers are assigned to a team and teams are scheduled for either the early (8:00) or late (10:30) service on a rotating basis.  Usher Shadows are youth who assist an usher team on a regularly scheduled basis.
